Reasons Why You Should Set Time to Pray
Although many occasions call for a dedicated time for prayer, it shouldn’t be the only time you pray.
While there are several reasons to devote time to prayer, the most common reason is to get some time alone with the Lord to build a relationship with Him. When we are pressed for time at work or home, we often forget to set aside time to be in the presence of the Lord. To make sure that we are able to get time alone with our loving God and reflect on His words, we need to set aside time for prayer. And while we don't always have a choice about this, it is always a good idea to select a time that works best for you. However, if you are too busy to stop and spend time with Him, you can say a two second prayer.
Sometimes, we also find that it is important to dedicate time to pray for a variety of reasons. It is a good way to prepare for whatever will happen. This can include anything from taking the children on an outing to a doctor's appointment. The time that we devote to prayer will help us to be better prepared for whatever may come our way.
The other reason that it is helpful to dedicate time for prayer is that it allows us to reflect. Meditation and reflection are two ways to keep ourselves from getting too caught up in the day-to-day distractions that tend to plague so many of us. When we find ourselves thinking too much about a certain situation, we need to spend time focusing on other things and give our worries to God. By dedicating a time to pray, we can focus on what is important to us, and this, in turn, will help to keep us focused.
Some people find it beneficial to dedicate time to pray even when they have no plans of going to any important ceremony or meeting. For those people, it can often help to remind them that they are actually "born to pray and worship the Lord." When we are able to remind ourselves that we aren't really blessed with the ability to go to the wedding or important ceremony while we are sitting in the midst of work, it can help us to take a moment and give ourselves a break.
Of course, there are also those people who find that the time for prayer that they allot for themselves works very well every day. It can be a good idea to devote a small amount of time each day to prayer. This can include taking time to take a walk or reading a book. Just being quiet for a minute or two can be enough to get in God’s presence. Saying quick prayers throughout the day is important for our relationships with God. By doing these activities, we are less likely to get distracted and allow our thoughts to wander in a different direction.
Finally, some people find that their minds wander into prayer when they simply need to feel better or be grateful for blessings. If someone has an ailment or health condition that causes him or her to worry, he or she may find that prayer can help them to relax and allow the situation to subside. He or she might want to thank God for something that happened to them recently. This is a quick prayer people can say throughout the day.
When we find that we need to meditate, our minds are less likely to wander and allow the anxiety to build up in our minds. Prayer can offer an outlet for this type of stress and help to allow the person to feel better.
